Unknown artist
Head and neck of écorché, lying supine, eyes and mouth open
Watercolour
The work was done by a pupil of Benjamin Robert Haydon - possibly Charles Landseer (1799-1879) - after dissections prepared by Sir Charles Bell. Haydon taught painters to study and draw the écorché with a view to training them as painters of heroic history paintings.
