Eliza Manningham-Buller joins the Wellcome Trust Board

Eliza Manningham-Buller led the Security Service, popularly referred to as MI5, from 2002 to 2007, having held various posts in the organisation since joining it in 1974. She retired in April 2007 and was made a life peer earlier this year, sitting on the cross benches in the House of Lords.
Sir William Castell, Chairman of the Wellcome Trust, said: “I am very pleased to announce that Baroness Manningham-Buller has joined the Trust’s Board of Governors. She has an outstanding record of leadership in public service and will add considerably to the breadth of experiences available to us at the Trust.”
Baroness Manningham-Buller said: “I am delighted to have been appointed a Governor of the Wellcome Trust and am excited by the opportunity to contribute to its outstanding work in promoting human and animal health.”
