New Head of Wellcome Library appointed
The Wellcome Trust, the UK's leading biomedical research charity, has appointed Frances Norton as the new Head of the Wellcome Library. Mrs Norton, who is currently Head of Public Service Strategy at Leeds University Library, will take up her appointment on 5 July.
The Wellcome Library is the world's greatest collections of books, manuscripts, pictures and films relating to the meaning and history of medicine, from the earliest times to the present day.
Clare Matterson, Director of Medicine, Society and History at the Wellcome Trust said:
"I'm delighted that Frances is joining us. She has a wealth of experience from one of the UK's largest and most prestigious research libraries. She will play a key role in building and maintaining the Wellcome Library as it enters exciting new times of development and refurbishment."
Frances Norton added:
"I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the Trust and working with such marvellous collections. I'm looking forward to what promises to be an exciting period ahead for the Wellcome Library."
