Wellcome Trust launches Postdoctoral Research Training Fellowships for Clinicians

These flexible awards give Fellows the opportunity to engage with areas of research that are new to them. Applicants should be clinicians who undertook a PhD early in their career and now wish to refresh their research skills, or who have recently completed a successful PhD and wish to explore a new research field or environment, and want to gain the skills that will lay the foundations for a successful independent career.
Fellowships are for up to four years and can be tailored to allow Fellows to reintegrate into their clinical training. The total value of an award will normally be capped at £350 000.
This scheme is open to individuals with a relevant connection to the European Economic Area, and Fellowships are to be held in a UK or Republic of Ireland sponsoring institution. Periods of training may be spent in other high-quality research environments in the UK or overseas.
Preliminary applications are due by 5 July 2013.
