Prestigious postdoctoral fellowships now awarded twice a year
8 March 2012

Launched in 2006, the Sir Henry Wellcome Postdoctoral Fellowships provide support for outstanding newly qualified postdocs, helping foster a new generation of talented and innovative scientists. Following an extremely well-received review of the scheme by the Wellcome Trust's Board of Governors, we are now accepting applications for the scheme twice a year.
These Fellowships enable researchers to work in the best laboratories in the UK and overseas, giving them a crucial early start in developing independent careers. Candidates are expected to identify an important biomedical research question and to develop and deliver a personal programme to achieve their research aims.
Fellows receive £250 000 over four years for their personal support, research funding, travel and subsistence. Anyone applying should normally have no more than 12 months' postdoctoral experience when the full application is submitted.
The next preliminary application deadlines are 13 April 2012 and 9 November 2012. Full applications - if invited - must be received by 25 June 2012 or 1 February 2013, respectively. For further information and details on how to apply, see the scheme page. You can also browse all the Sir Henry Wellcome Fellows.
