Assessment Framework Report 2010/11 and Strategic Plan update

The Wellcome Trust actively tracks the outputs and impact of our activities to assess our progress in furthering the vision set out in our ten-year Strategic Plan 2010-20, ‘Extraordinary Opportunities’. Published today, our Assessment Framework Report summary for 2010/11 and two-year Strategic Plan update provide an overview of what we have achieved and our emerging strategic priorities.

The 2010/11 Assessment Framework Report summary describes the outputs and impacts of Wellcome Trust's activities over the past year. The report highlights several important achievements reflecting the breadth and complexity of the Trust's work, including:

• funding AQUAMAT, the African quinine versus artesunate malaria trial, which has changed World Health Organization guidelines on malaria treatment
• supporting Y Touring in their development of 'Starfish', a play exploring the issues raised by clinical trials
• working in partnership with other major health funders to widen access to research data for the scientific community.

Our Strategic Plan update provides a high-level summary of some of the major activities we have taken forward over the first two years of the ten-year Plan, and some of the areas we intend to develop over the year ahead as we work to develop our three focus areas and five strategic challenges.
