Can you help us to grow our world-leading image collection?

14 December 2011

If you are a research scientist, a clinical photographer or an illustrator, we would love to see your work. Judging for the Wellcome Image Awards 2012 will take place at the end of January, and all images submitted by 16 January 2012 will automatically be considered for inclusion.

You can access a wider audience through our biomedical image collection, which is used by clients across the world. We have more than 200 000 biomedical images available for public use through our picture library, Wellcome Images.

We are particularly keen to receive images that relate to the Wellcome Trust's five challenge areas:

  • understanding the brain
  • maximising the health benefits of genetics and genomics
  • combating infectious diseases
  • development, ageing and chronic disease
  • connecting environment, nutrition and health.

The Wellcome Image Awards celebrate the best new images acquired by Wellcome Images. You can see this year's winners - chosen by a panel of judges recognising the creators of the most striking and technically excellent images - on the Wellcome Image Awards website.

Speaking at the Wellcome Image Awards 2011, Catherine Draycott, Head of Wellcome Images, said: "We search out hundreds of images from working scientists and artists each year, and the awards offer a superb opportunity for people to find out about the cutting-edge science and the people behind the pictures."

For more information about our image collection, see the Wellcome Images website or contact us at images@wellcome.ac.uk.
