Wellcome Trust and NIH PhD studentships available

15 September 2011

Applications are now open for four-year collaborative PhD training in the UK or the Republic of Ireland and the National Institutes of Health campus at Bethesda, USA.

The Wellcome Trust and National Institutes of Health Four-year PhD Studentships scheme provides opportunities for the most promising students to undertake international, collaborative four-year PhD training based in both a UK or Republic of Ireland academic institution and the intramural campus of the National Institutes of Health at Bethesda in Maryland, USA.

Students will be co-mentored by supervisors in both laboratories and are expected to spend an equal amount of time in each, although the specific division of time will depend on the research project.

The awards are funded in partnership. The Trust will provide support for the student's stipend, PhD fees, college fees (if required) and a contribution towards research costs for the time spent in the UK or the Republic of Ireland. The NIH will provide financial support for the time spent carrying out research in the USA.

Further information is available on our funding pages. Applications must be received no later than 14 November 2011.
