'High Tea' game online now

Over the past year Wellcome Collection has been developing online games based around our collections and exhibitions. The latest - and most ambitious yet - has just launched.

The new game, 'High Tea', is a strategy game in which the player takes on the role of a 19th-century British opium smuggler in the Chinese Pearl Delta during the ten years before the outbreak of the first Opium War.

The aim of the game is to trade enough opium at a profit to buy tea to satisfy Victorian Britain's thirst. Developed to support Wellcome Collection's hugely popular exhibition ‘High Society: Mind-altering drugs in history and culture’, this addictive game takes an unconventional look at a very questionable episode in British history.
