Synchrotron support secured
31 March 2010

This, combined with other funding announced by the Science and Technology Facilities Council, means that Diamond has secured approximately £110 million for phase III of its development. This will raise the number of beamlines at Diamond to 32 by 2017, giving researchers access to new techniques and allowing the facility to continue making major contributions to the study of advanced materials, life sciences and environmental research.
Diamond currently has 17 operational beamlines with high-tech experimental stations, which UK and international scientists use to study matter and material at the scale of atoms and molecules. Five additional beamlines will be added in phase II.
