Join the human peas on Euston Road this Saturday
17 April 2009

'Peas, Placards, Protest!' is a day of workshops and performance to accompany the exhibition ‘Bobby Baker’s Diary Drawings: Mental illness and me, 1997-2008’, at Wellcome Collection until 2 August. Bobby's diary drawings cover her experiences of mental illness, from day hospitals, acute psychiatric wards, 'crisis' teams and a variety of treatments, through to recovery. The drawings follow the ups and downs of her family life, work as an artist, her recent breast cancer and just how funny all this harrowing stuff can be.
Why peas? There are many silent 'p's in the professions that deal with the mind, whether in psychology, psychiatry or psychotherapy. All of us are patients and some of us are professionals too. You can hear the 'p' in patient but can you hear what we all really think? That's why we’re giving the 'p's a chance to speak their minds.
So join us for our peas protest day. Pop into a workshop, make your own placard and join the peas in speaking your mind! Admission is free and there's no need to book.
'Peas, Placards, Protest!' is produced by Bobby Baker’s Daily Life Ltd and takes place at Wellcome Collection, 183 Euston Road, London NW1 2BE, on Saturday 18 April 2009. There will be performances on the hour from 12.00 to 17.00 and roaming protests throughout the day.
Bobby Baker's Daily Life Ltd is supported by Arts Council England and can be contacted at info@bobbybakersdailylife.com.
