23 March 2009

Applications are now open for Early Career Fellowships for Researchers in India, a new scheme launched by the Wellcome Trust-DBT India Alliance, an £80m partnership between the Government of India and the Wellcome Trust.

Operated as an independent, public charitable trust, the Alliance delivers a programme of three research schemes, also including Intermediate and Senior Fellowships, to support current and future leaders of Indian biomedical science.

Early Career Fellowships support the most promising newly qualified postdoctoral researchers, to help them to make an early start in launching their independent research careers, working in the best laboratories in India.

The Alliance is jointly funded by the Government of India’s Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and the Wellcome Trust over five years. Annually, the Alliance awards around 40 Early Career Fellowships, 20 Intermediate Fellowships and 15 Senior Research Fellowships.
