A conversation about the HFE Bill

17 May 2008

On Friday 16 May, the Wellcome Trust hosted a meeting between scientists, religious leaders of various faiths, clinicians, ethicists and philosophers to discuss the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill.

The meeting was filmed - see complete video coverage of the event.

Given the complexity of the science involved and the variety of ethical and religious positions on the status of embryos, it is not surprising that the issue is contentious. The meeting was held to encourage a balanced exchange of opinions to help clarify public understanding and inform debate in the House of Commons.
