Funding: Neuroscience and Mental Health awards

A selection of awards made through the Neuroscience and Mental Health stream.

Wellcome Trust Principal Research Fellow Professor J Mark Williams (University of Oxford) and Professor Ian Russell (University of Wales, Bangor) have been awarded a programme grant to develop and test cognitive behavioural therapies in people at risk of suicide.

Also awarded a programme grant, Professor Margaret Snowling, Professor Charles Hulme and Dr Marianna Emma Hayiou-Thomas (University of York) will examine the relationship between specific language impairment and dyslexia, with the hope of boosting early reading skills in children with these difficulties.

Lastly, Dr François Guillemot (National Institute for Medical Research) and Professor Noel Buckley (King's College London) have been awarded a project grant to explore the genetic basis of how a protein called Mash1 stimulates neuron generation in stem cells.
