Funding: Interdisciplinary training programmes for clinicians

2 July 2007

Wellcome Trust funding support is now on offer for high-quality integrated research training programmes for clinicians in translational medicine and therapeutics.

Through the funding, we aim to develop a cadre of clinicians with the expertise to design and conduct studies that develop and evaluate new therapies in humans.

We are seeking to meet an urgent need for individuals with a firm grounding in the principles of basic and clinical pharmacology as well as skills in the most modern research technologies to address complex physiological questions. Such individuals will play a key role in shaping the interdisciplinary research that underpins translational medicine and therapeutics.

Programmes funded will allow clinicians to combine a rigorous grounding in the principles of translational medicine with research opportunities that apply the latest approaches to important clinical problems.

The deadline for preliminary applications is 30 September 2007.
