Update: New genetics director

18 December 2007

Professor Peter Donnelly - one of the UK's leading statisticians and geneticists - has been appointed the new Director of the University of Oxford's Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics.

Professor Donnelly, who is moving from the University's Department of Statistics, is also Chairman of the Wellcome Trust Case Control Consortium - the largest ever study of the genetics of common disease.

He replaces Professor Anthony Monaco, the Director since 1998, who is now Pro-Vice Chancellor (Planning and Resources) at Oxford.
