Funding: Spreading the word

Man speaking to a crowd
Training and support is available from the Wellcome Trust to help researchers to get their work recognised and discussed more widely.

Public engagement is becoming increasingly integrated into researchers’ careers. Fortunately, the skills that are critical to working with the science media and with the public are the same as those needed for delivering effective papers, seminars and grant applications.

To help, the Trust is offering a series of workshops in 2008. Sessions on engaging and influencing, reaching public audiences and subject-specific engagement will be provided for any researchers contributing to Wellcome research, including group members not directly funded under a Trust grant. Dedicated support and advice is available from Chris Stock at the Trust: c.stock@wellcome.ac.uk; alternatively, find out more about the support we offer researchers.
