Several Wellcome Trust-funded researchers have recently had their achievements recognised.
Professor Jeremy Farrar (shown above), Director of the Wellcome Trust’s Major Overseas Programme in Vietnam, was awarded the Frederick Murgatroyd Prize for contributions to Tropical Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians in London and the Bailey K Ashford Medal for Tropical Medicine by the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene.
Professor Masud Husain, a Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellow in Clinical Science at the Institute of Neurology, has been awarded the Graham Bull Prize in Clinical Science. The prize is awarded annually by the Royal College of Physicians to a researcher under 45 who has made a major contribution to clinical science.
Professor Ray Dolan, Head of the Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging, has received the Golden Brain Award for 2007 from the Minerva Foundation, in recognition of his work on the emotional brain.
Stephen Lawn, a Wellcome Trust Clinical Career Development Fellow associated with the Bloomsbury Centre (a Wellcome Trust Centre for Research in Clinical Tropical Medicine), was awarded the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease annual scientific prize. This prize is awarded on the basis of published work on TB in the preceding two years.
