Update: open house london14 September 2006 |
The Guardian newspaper has listed the Wellcome Trust headquarters, the Gibbs Building, as number three in its top five 'Open House' buildings open to the public this weekend.
The Wellcome Trust's Open House activities begin on the evening of Friday 15 September, when our headquarters will be among a small number of buildings open for walkers participating in the Metro Life Hike. Participants will walk the route of the Circle Line, stopping off to admire the architecture of buildings such as ours, with the aim of raising money for Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres.
Then on Saturday 16 September the Gibbs Building will be open to the public, with activities for all the family involving our beautiful view of the London skyline.
In 2005 the Wellcome Trust received 1800 visitors as part of Open House and we are expecting an even larger turnout this year.
And while you're in the area, don't miss our free one-day event: Travelling Apothecary, where a selection of the UK's most talented young designers will host stalls peddling cures for modern-day ailments in the best Wild West medicine-show tradition.
