The next issue in the Wellcome Trust's 'Big Picture' series, for teachers and post-16 students, tackles consciousness and cognition. 'Big Picture on Thinking', due out in September, examines the latest exciting scientific developments in this fascinating area as well as some of the challenging social and ethical issues they raise - such as cognitive enhancement, personal responsibility and 'cognitive liberty' (should our thoughts be private to ourselves?).
