Funding: Membrane protein structures

8 June 2006

A membrane protein crystallography facility is to be established at the Diamond synchrotron in Oxford. The facility, access to which will be available to the wider community, is being set up by Professor So Iwata (Imperial College London), who has been awarded a £1.7 million grant by the Wellcome Trust. The structures of membrane proteins are notoriously difficult to obtain – fewer than 20 have been solved to date.
