Update: Open access award

The Wellcome Trust has won the first Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC) Europe Award for its work on open access publishing.
The judging panel felt that the Trust merited the award for the range of activity undertaken – from commissioning economic studies and pursuing supportive policies, through to taking a lead on practical issues, including its work on setting up a UK version of PubMed Central (UKPMC).
The Award was presented at the Third Nordic Conference on Scholarly Communication, 'Beyond Declarations - The Changing Landscape of Scholarly Communication', on 24 April 2006.
