New Chairman for the wellcome trust

8 May 2006

Sir William ('Bill') Castell succeeded Sir Dominic Cadbury as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Trust on 1 May 2006.

This followed Bill's retirement as President and CEO of GE Healthcare, the medical diagnostics and biosciences business of the General Electric Company of the USA, of which he was also Vice-Chairman.
