UPDATE: HTA sets dates

24 March 2006

The newly established Human Tissue Authority (HTA) has announced key dates in the establishment of its regulatory regime. On 7 April 2006 the HTA will implement the EU Tissues and Cells Directive, which covers the licensing of tissue banks that store tissue and cells for human application. Also in April, the HTA will publish its revised statutory codes of practice guidelines, as well as a detailed timetable and arrangements for the licensing and regulation of other activities, including research. Licences for these activities will be granted from 1 September 2006.
