Research: Nicotine patches

The use of nicotine replacement therapy is not associated with any increase in the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke or death. A study of more than 33 000 people found that the incidence of illness rose progressively in the 56 days before the start of replacement therapy but declined in the 56 days after.
