Science for All? The Wellcome Trust Engaging Science Conference

16 November 2005

The Wellcome Trust is organising a major public engagement conference to discuss whether public engagement is really engaging the public.

The Trust aims to be at the forefront of efforts to forge closer links between bioscience and the rest of society. It has spent more than £80 million on ventures ranging from major investments (such as the National Science Learning Centre) to grants for innovative arts projects that explore the use of dance, drama and poetry in public engagement.

To be held at Manchester Conference Centre on 3–4 April 2006, 'Science for All?' will bring together science communicators, educators, artists, scientists, policy makers and community leaders to share experiences, consider progress to date, and think about future directions.

By exploring the successes and experiences from a diverse range of Wellcome Trust projects and programmes, the conference will provide a forum to explore how all sections of society can access the science that affects all our lives.
