Suspended Animation

A spectacular sculpture by young British artist and designer Thomas Heatherwick has been installed in the Wellcome Trust’s new building on Euston Road. Consisting of 150 000 specially processed glass spheres, suspended on a million metres of fine stainless steel wire, the work, ‘Bleigiessen’, glows with constantly shifting colours through a unique process of sandwiching reflective 'dichroic' film within the glass.
