Tropical award

Elizabeth Corbett, from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, has been awarded a Wellcome Career Post in Tropical Medicine – the most senior of the Wellcome Trust’s personal awards in tropical medicine. Dr Corbett will be working on improving strategies for detection and treatment of tuberculosis infections in Zimbabwe.

Dr Corbett is also this year’s winner of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine’s Chalmers Medal, awarded to researchers who have made particularly valuable contributions to tropical medicine research. Dr Corbett joins a long list of Wellcome-funded researchers awarded the medal.
