Medical journals digitisation

5 June 2004

The Trust has contributed £750 000 to a project that promotes open access to published scientific papers.

Run by the Wellcome Library in collaboration with the Joint Information Systems Committee (which has contributed £500 000) and the US National Library of Medicine, the new project will digitise the full text of every issue of a number of important medical journals.

The project is expected to take about two years to complete. However, as titles are digitised they will be made available, hopefully as early as spring 2005.
