Secrets of the Body

1 August 2003

The Wellcome Trust Centre for the History of Medicine at University College London has released a new video and DVD, 'Secrets of the Body', featuring some of the fascinating research being undertaken at the Centre. Short vignettes bring to life a diverse set of tales, such as the 18th-century woman who believed her husband was trying to murder her, the introduction of modern medicine into Iran in the 19th century, and the history of phenylketonuria screening (the 'heelprick' test). Designed to promote interest and awareness of the breadth and diversity of historical medical research, the video is available free to schools, colleges, healthcare centres and any other individuals or organizations with an interest in the origins of medicine and medical science.
