Imagine all the people

10 June 2003

The Wellcome Trust has joined with the BBC to launch a photography competition commemorating the 50th anniversary of the discovery of the DNA double helix. The competition, 'Imagine', is open to all - amateur photographers of all descriptions are invited to submit a photograph that captures their thoughts or feelings of DNA, genetics or inheritance.

Entrants have the chance to win equipment worth up to £2000. Submissions may be made in three categories: individual, across the ages collaboration, or schools. Shortlisted entries will be featured in a special exhibition to be shown later in the year at the Royal Albert Hall and in an online gallery.

'Imagine' is part of the Wellcome Trust's programme of activities to raise aware public awareness of biomedical science and its social implications.
