DNA50 comes to the Trust

The Wellcome Trust is planning a range of activities to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the discovery of the DNA double helix: 25 April 2003 is 50 years to the day since Watson and Crick's landmark paper was published in Nature.

Events planned throughout April and beyond include a special exhibition, 'Four Plus: Writing DNA'. The exhibition will not be bound by one physical space: artworks will appear throughout the public spaces of the TwoTen Gallery, the Wellcome Building and Library. Commissioned work from ten international contemporary artists working in a variety of media will focus on aspects of the four principals involved in the discovery - Francis Crick, James Watson, Rosalind Franklin and Maurice Wilkins.

April will also see some of the Crick papers on display in the Wellcome Library reading room. This will be the first opportunity for the public to view this important historical resource.
