eGrants: online application
During 2015 we are launching a new grants system that will replace eGrants, our current electronic application system, as the means for submitting online applications. Our Word form applications will also be replaced.
We will start introducing this system in May 2015. During this transition, it is vital that you create, prepare and submit your application using the correct system; which system to use will depend on the scheme and the application deadline date. Please check scheme-specific guidelines on the appropriate scheme web page to understand which is the right system for you to use. The eGrants system enables applicants to apply for grants online. The system provides workflow to guide the applications through the necessary steps towards final submission to the Wellcome Trust.
The benefits of our eGrants system include:
- clear workflow
- clear sign-off process through the host organisation
- reduced administration at the Trust.
Most applicants for grants in Biomedical Science, Medical Humanities and Public Engagement are required to submit their applications via our eGrants system. However, Word forms are still available for preliminary applications for the majority of the Trust’s funding schemes.

Applicants who have limited or unreliable access to the internet should email eGrants Support - eGrants.Support@wellcome.ac.uk - to request a Word form.
How to register for eGrants
You can register through the eGrants log-in page.
Depending on your role within an application, you will be required to register either a Full or Partial Account.
- Full Account users are required to complete registration steps 1-5
- Partial Account users are required to complete registration steps 1-2.

Coapplicants and/or Heads of Department will also need to register with eGrants and complete the relevant registration process.
If you wish to register with eGrants but are not sure whether your organisation is registered, you can check the list of registered administering organisations. If the organisation that would be administering the grant is not on this list, please refer to our Organisation Registration Instructions in our Help section.
