eGrants: online application

The eGrants system enables applicants to apply for grants online. The system provides workflow to guide the applications through the necessary steps towards final submission to the Wellcome Trust.

Most applicants for Biomedical Science and Medical Humanities grants are required to submit their applications via our eGrants system. However, Word forms are still available for:

• preliminary applications for the majority of the Trust’s funding schemes
• Public Engagement grants
• Technology Transfer grants.

Please refer to the relevant funding scheme information on the Wellcome Trust website for details of alternative application procedures.

Applicants who have limited or unreliable access to the internet should email the eGrants service desk - egrants.support@wellcome.ac.uk - to request a Word form.

If you haven't applied using eGrants before, here is what you need to do:

• make sure your institution (or the institution that would be administering the grant, if you are not already based there) is registered with us
• access eGrants and fill in a homepage for yourself (this will include your personal details that can be downloaded onto future application forms).

Other people - such as coapplicants - will need to register and fill in details too.

• better functionality
• clear sign off process through the host institution
• reduced administration at the Trust
• helping us to capture management information (useful for us and useful for you).

Registration status of institutions

If you wish to register with eGrants but are not sure whether your institution is registered, you can check the list of registered institutions. If your institution (or the institution that would be administering the grant if you are not already based there), is not on this list you should contact the eGrants service desk for further information.
