The Wellcome Trust Science Writing Prize 2014
In association with the 'Guardian' and the 'Observer' has now been discontinued

The Science Writing Prize was set up in 2011 to create an opportunity for upcoming science writers to have their work published in a national newspaper.

For four years it has seen thousands of fantastic entries from professional and non-professional scientists on topics as diverse as facial recognition, the importance of estimates and the origins of syphilis.

As the Trust’s interest in science journalism evolves, the decision has been taken to discontinue the Prize. We continue to champion excellent science writing with our online publication, Mosaic, through many public engagement funding schemes and our involvement in the Access to Understanding prize via open access journal eLife.

Congratulations to all the previous Science Writing Prize winners and shortlisted entries. You can download our PDF to read the 2014 shortlisted entries [1.94MB].
