We also offer training and development opportunities for researchers hoping to contribute more effectively to broadcast projects, and we support science-literate graduates seeking careers in the entertainment sector.

Every year our Broadcast team runs a range of workshops, panels, competitions and other events. These are aimed at supporting media professionals who have an interest in our science and helping them to make connections with our scientists.

Opportunities for researchers

Wellcome Trust and BBC placement scheme Provides Sir Henry Wellcome Postdoctoral Fellows in the third or fourth year of their Fellowship the opportunity to undertake a four-week internship at the BBC science unit in central London or Glasgow. 

Science Media Studentships Offer financial support for biomedical scientists wanting to retrain for a career in the broadcast industry.

Narrative Skills Workshops Storytelling workshops where Trust-funded researchers are supported by media professionals in learning to tell their science stories and discovering how to pitch their work.
