Gamify Your PhD

A new way to communicate cutting-edge research

This year's competition is now closed.

Gamify Your PhD brought together six scientists and 21 games developers to form teams and create games over two days. These teams successfully delivered addictive, entertaining and challenging beta games, with a variety of different genres deployed to communicate scientific ideas in new and innovative ways, from survival games to puzzles, shoot-em-ups to 'Guitar Hero'-styled offerings.

To find out more about the hack days themselves and the outcome of the project, please follow the links below.

The hack days

These took place at the Wellcome Trust on 3 and 4 September 2012. The selected participants gathered to make science communications history as well as games.

Find out more about the genesis of the project and explore how you can develop a game idea from science.

The ideas

So after two days of soda, coding and science, what was the result?

Find out what came of Gamify Your PhD, what our panel of experts thought of the games produced as well as screenshots and links to games themselves. Play the games and judge for yourself how well the gameplay and science were balanced.
