Eligibility Information on who can apply for Engaging Science Awards (not including International Engagement Awards)

Applicants must be based in the UK or the Republic of Ireland and the activity must take place in the UK or the Republic of Ireland.

The scheme is open to a wide range of professionals, including mediators and practitioners of science communication, health professionals, artists and academics.

Grants will normally be awarded through organisations - such as academia, charitable bodies and other not-for-profit organisations - rather than individuals.

Applications will also be accepted from commercial companies who would not otherwise be able to undertake the proposed work and where outputs would not be considered for commercial funding.

Applicants will be encouraged to apply through an organisation. If this is not possible, individuals can apply for People Awards and Small Arts Awards but they must demonstrate a strong track record in the area of their application.

Applicants will be required to submit information to enable us to assess their eligibility to hold and manage grants from the Trust.Any Awards made by decision making committees will not be confirmed until all eligibility checks have been completed.For this assessment, we will normally require:

• Articles of Association/Certificate of Incorporation;
• Audited accounts from the previous two years;
• Details of similar projects/grant funding received;
• Evidence of ability to segregate costs incurred under any Trust grant;
• Confirmation that no funding has been received, or is scheduled to be received, from any tobacco company.

Engaging Science Awards are made under the Engaging Science Grant Conditions, which all Applicants should be aware of and able to sign up to.
