Research support

International Collaborative Research Initiative Grants Enable established historians of medicine based in developing countries to undertake a research programme to be carried out in their home institution, in conjunction with a collaborating department in the UK or Republic of Ireland.
Programme grants Provide support for up to five years for extensive or long-term research.
Project grants Provide funding for discrete and focused research projects.
Research expenses This scheme supports experienced researchers who wish to carry out a modest programme of study. It also provides modest assistance with research expenses (but not registration fees) for self-funded postgraduate students working for a doctorate.
Research Leave Awards Allow university staff to be released from their teaching and administrative duties so they can undertake an uninterrupted period of full-time research.
Short-term Research Leave Awards for Clinicians and Scientists Enable clinicians or scientists who hold established posts to undertake a short-term period of full-time research at a centre or department with academic expertise in medical history.
Travel grants For short-term visits by scholars based outside the UK and Republic of Ireland to one of these countries.
