Public engagement with medical history and humanities
Themes and topics in the medical history and humanities are within the remit of our Engaging Science Awards.
We provide funding for public engagement projects that contribute to general medical history and humanities coverage or promote historical research in a manner that stimulates and informs dialogue between researchers, policy makers and the wider public. There are several grant schemes:
- People Awards provide funding for projects of £30 000 or under. Applications may involve, but are not limited to, television, radio, exhibitions, theatre, websites, educational resources, lectures or a debate series.
- Society Awards provide funding for projects of over £30 000. Like the People Awards, the Society Awards fund a wide range of different projects but must aim to have a regional or national impact.
- Arts Awards support imaginative and experimental arts projects. There are two levels of funding: large Arts Awards of over £30 000 or small arts awards of under £30 000. All art forms are covered by the programme: dance, drama, performance arts, visual arts, music, film, craft, photography, creative writing or digital media. Arts Awards must involve the production of new work.
- Broadcast Development Awards provide funding for early-stage ideas for TV, radio or new media projects to be developed into proposals to be used in securing a broadcast platform and/or further funding.
