Biomedical ethics
We fund research into ethical issues that arise in the development and delivery of healthcare or the use of medical techniques in non-healthcare contexts. This includes: the ethics of biomedical or health research (relating to either humans or animals); ethical issues arising in the translation of such research into practice; ethical issues arising in clinical care; and ethical issues arising from the delivery of care, including policy and public health.
UK/ROI grant schemes
The focus of the UK/ROI grant schemes is building expertise to conduct research in biomedical ethics with the ultimate aim of enabling ethical issues in biomedicine and healthcare in the UK and Republic of Ireland to be addressed.
Developing countries grant schemes
The focus of the developing countries grant schemes is strengthening capacity for research into the ethical, legal, social, cultural and public policy aspects of biomedical research and healthcare in developing and restructuring countries
