A quick guide to career schemes in the biomedical sciences and public health

As the diagram illustrates, we have a portfolio of personal support schemes for investigators based in a UK or Republic of Ireland institution that cover the key stages of a research career.

Our set of awards does not define a specific, rigid, step-by-step route that every researcher will follow. Instead, researchers may apply for different types of scheme at different stages in their careers.

The upper half (red) are schemes available to basic scientists and the lower half (blue) are schemes available to clinicians. Grey areas represent schemes available to both basic and clinically qualified researchers.
