Pulse

The first round of funding used contemporary dance, drama and the live arts to inspire more than 8500 young people - all of whom were given the opportunity to tackle complex and emotive issues while expanding their creative thinking.

By nurturing a mechanism in which contemporary arts organisations can collaborate with enthusiastic scientific professionals, new, remarkable art forms were created in which all facets of biomedical science are explored.
Between 2004 and 2006 we broadened both the target age range for Pulse, to cover all young people up to the age of 22, and the remit, to include the visual and digital arts, echoing the increasing uptake of such technology within both the arts and sciences. Pulse now sits alongside Sciart in their combined, new identity - the Arts Awards.
