Our work: Primary science projects

Young people's interest in science is often sparked during their primary education. We have developed a programme of work that is intended to help us understand current issues in primary science and how to improve its teaching; it is one of the focus areas of our 2010-2020 Education Strategy [PDF 84KB].

Primary science specialists

Work to develop the expertise of primary science specialists in all primary schools.

Primary science survey

2011 survey of primary school teachers about science provision in their schools.

Primary Science Quality Mark

An award scheme to develop and celebrate the quality of science teaching and learning in primary schools.

Primary-secondary transition

We collaborated with Croydon Council in 2010-12 to explore ways to improve the transition between primary and secondary school.
