Strengthening Health Research in the Developing World: Malaria Research Capacity in Africa

This unique report, prepared by the Wellcome Trust on behalf of the Multilateral Initiative on Malaria, presents important data to guide future approaches to strengthening research capacity in developing countries, with a special emphasis on malaria research in Africa. The report will be of interest to scientists - particularly malaria researchers in Africa - and to research funding organisations and governments, in both developing and developed countries.

Included is a systematic review of research training opportunities offered by international funders to biomedical scientists in developing countries. In addition, the report provides detailed insight into research expertise, resources and outputs in malaria research - one of the strongest areas of health research in Africa.
