Report of the Committee of Enquiry into Veterinary Research
This committee, set up by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, set out to "assess the current state and provision for veterinary science and research and to develop a strategy, from which funding priorities can be determined, to ensure UK veterinary research and research training are at the forefront internationally and meet the nation's needs in the future".
The Committee, chaired by Lord Selborne, Chairman of the House of Lords Select Committee on Science and Technology, heard evidence from interested parties and reported on 9 December 1997. The Committee included eminent figures from both veterinary and human medicine. Support was provided by the Wellcome Trust, the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and a number of other organisations.
