The Use of Biological Sample Collections and Personal Medical Information in Human Genetics Research

This is a report commissioned by the Wellcome Trust from Dr Paul Martin (University of Nottingham) and Dr Jane Kaye (University of Oxford) in preparation for a meeting on this subject organised by the Trust in November 1999.

The purpose of the report was to provide description and exposition of regulatory and legal aspects of biomedical sample collections and personal medical information in research, and to raise some of the social, ethical and public policy questions that have been generated by developments in the field.
