1. Investigator Awards
We are now accepting applications for Investigator Awards. We strongly advise you to contact us if you are considering applying, for advice on your eligibility and suitability before submitting an application. Full details of the Wellcome Trust Investigator Awards scheme are available on our website. 

2. eGrant Updates
On 23 September a number of upgrades were made to the functionality of our eGrants application system. Further information on these upgrades is available online.

Funding opportunities

3. Seeding Drug Discovery
We have extended our Seeding Drug Discovery initiative for a further five years. This Technology Transfer scheme aims to facilitate early stage small-molecule drug discovery. Researchers from academia and companies are invited to apply by 19 November 2010.

4. Four-year PhD Studentship Programmes
The next round of our scheme that allows the most promising students to undertake in-depth postgraduate training is now open for applications.

5. Clinical PhD Programmes
The next round of our scheme to support the most promising medically qualified clinicians who wish to undertake rigorous research training is now open for applications.

7. Open access week
Now in its fourth year, Open Access Week starts on Monday 18 October. 
Find out more about the events and activities scheduled worldwide online.
Wellcome Trust-funded researchers are reminded that our own open access policy expects authors of research papers to ensure their results are made available in UK PubMed Central within six months of publication.

8. Data management and sharing policy
We have updated our policy on data management and sharing, and have published new guidance to assist researchers in developing data management and sharing plans. We are also taking forward a range of activities to enhance data sharing in specific research fields - including for public health research and large-scale genetics studies. Please see the website for more information.

9. Republic of Ireland
The Trust has entered into a new funding agreement with the Health Research Board and Science Foundation Ireland to ensure continued funding of biomedical science grants. Further information on this new partnership is available online.

10. Public engagement training and support - narrative skills workshops
Free communication and engagement training is available for all Wellcome Trust research grantholders and their group members. Contact us to register your interest and find out more about the workshops and details of upcoming sessions online.

11. Human Developmental Biology Resource
The Human Developmental Biology Resource (HDBR) is a unique resource funded by the MRC and the Wellcome Trust. Find out more online.

Philosopher A C Grayling in conversation with some of the biggest names in science.

13. Epigenetics and Developmental Programming Conference 21-22 March 2011
Topics at this conference include the environment and the epigenome, epigenetic variation and phenotype, epigenetic variation and common genetic variation, identifying and quantifying epigenetic variation and bioinformatic challenges in epigenetic analyses. Ten Wellcome Trust bursaries are available for young researchers. Find out more online.

14. Making history
