1. Investigator Awards

Applications for Investigator Awards may be submitted from 1 October onwards. If you are considering applying for an Investigator Award, you are strongly advised to contact the Trust to obtain advice on your eligibility and suitability before submitting an application. Full details of the Wellcome Trust Investigator Awards scheme are available now.

2. Final reminder for schemes being discontinued

The final closing date for the last round of grant applications for these schemes is Friday 30 July 2010. See full details

Funding opportunities

3. Senior Research Fellowships in Clinical Science

Applications are now open for our Senior Research Fellowships in Clinical Science. The deadline for preliminary applications is 6 September 2010.

4. Research opportunities in the medical humanities for clinicians, other healthcare practitioners and scientists

Following recent reviews of both its Biomedical Ethics and History of Medicine Programmes, the Trust is keen to encourage more health professionals and scientists interested in conducting research to explore the ethical, social and historical dimensions of their work to apply for funding.

5. Global health trials scheme

The Trust has joined forces with other UK funders to offer support for late-stage trials of health interventions designed to improve health in low- and middle-income countries. Find out more

6. Health Innovation Challenge Fund call for proposals

The Health Innovation Challenge Fund, a joint funding initiative between the Wellcome Trust and the Department of Health, is currently inviting proposals for practical solutions to improve health monitoring in the home and remote settings.

7. Starter Grants for Clinical Lecturers

Starter Grants for research active clinical lecturers, in collaboration with the Academy of Medical Sciences, are now open for applications. The deadline is 23 July 2010.

8. NC3Rs Studentship Scheme

The NC3Rs invites applications for PhD studentships from UK research establishments for projects which will provide excellent scientific training as well as a solid introduction to the 3Rs: replacement, refinement and reduction of animals in research. The deadline for applications is 14 July 2010.

11. Skin: Exposed

Join us for a unique 'skin-posium' exploring nakedness in science, art and culture, as part of our Skin exhibition, which runs from 10 June to 26 September 2010. Skin: Exposed, a special two-day event, runs on Friday 16 July 19.00-21.00 and Saturday 17 July 10.30-17.00.

12. Human Genome feedback

We are currently making improvements to our Human Genome website. Completing our short online survey should take no longer than two minutes and we would be grateful for your feedback.

13. NC3Rs Board Members

The NC3Rs is now seeking new Board members. Candidates should be senior scientists with a proven track record in relevant research; a good understanding of the use of animals in research; a commitment to all three 'Rs'; and a proven ability to exercise judgment in areas of science policy. The deadline for applications is 31 July 2010.
