Headline figures for 2009
The net investment base (after bond liabilities) of the Wellcome Trust Group was £13.0 billion at 30 September 2009, compared with £13.1 billion at 30 September 2008.
The overall investment return was a positive return of 4.7 per cent during the financial year (2008: negative return of 10.8 per cent).
Charitable commitments of the Group increased to £720 million during the year, compared with £702 million for the previous year.

Wellcome Trust Finance plc issued £550 million 4.625 per cent Guaranteed Bonds - due July 2036 - on 25 July 2006, and £275 million 4.750 per cent Guaranteed Bonds - due May 2021 - on 28 May 2009, which are listed on the London Stock Exchange.
