E-health funding

Electronic patient records offer real potential to improve healthcare and advance biomedical research, particularly if records can be linked to other sources.Wellcome Trust funding initiatives in the area of e-health Include:

In 2012 the Wellcome Trust joined a consortium of UK Government and charity funders to award £19 million to establish four e-health research centres of Excellence in London, Manchester, Dundee and Swansea.

In 2007, the Wellcome Trust led a partnership of funders – including the Economic and Social Research Council, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and the Medical Research Council – to support work to develop and use electronic resources in health research.Proposals were invited for research, training programmes and public engagement activities.
